some rough comps for project 2.





My first idea for project 2 is to do a collection of records by Ratatat. They are an electronic band from New York. The collection will consist of 4 albums with cds resembling vinyl discs. As for the carrier or box, I'm thinking about having it look like a synthesizer or maybe a 4 track. I also want to include a guitar shaped booklet with additional stuff - bio, history, lyrics, etc. Maybe throw in stickers as well.
My other idea, which I'm more excited about, is going to be a collection of movies based off books. I want each blu-ray case to resemble a Penguin book type template. My inspirations are of course the Penguin books, Olly Moss's penguin styled game posters/covers, and M.S. Corley's Penguin inspired Harry Potter covers. I'm going to house the blu-ray cases in what would appear to be a really thick Penguin book. With this project, I might include 6 movies or so since the art will be minimalist.

I saw this on Tumblr today and just had to blog about it. It's similar in the retro style that I'm doing with my arrogant bastard project but I love their solution to the label. It's clean, unique, and almost looks medicinal (back label).
